Liisa Anttila (FIN) has recovered and left the hospital already

Liisa Anttila (FIN) suffered a collapse during the long-distance race on Wednesday and has been brought to the hospital of Winterthur. According to Finnish team officials, however, she should be able to leave the hospital already on Thursday.

The relay world champion and seventh over the long distance in 2001 collapsed right in the middle of the course between controls 10 and 11. She however managed to drag herself to a nearby first-aid post. From there she was brought directly to the hospital in Winterthur. According to people of the Finnish team several reasons might have led to this accident: on one hand the dehydration caused by the scorching heat, on the other hand the wash-out, because Liisa Anttila did only take water during the race. In addition, the 29-year old Fin suffers from asthma, which might have aggravated the situation even more.
