Terrain description
Joint spruce forest with some pine trees on the area of the prehistoric landslide of Flims. Big boulders, deep depressions and varied terrain relief make the den Uaul Grond to one of the most interesting orienteering destinations of Switzerland.

Local sightseeing A hiking trip combined with a train drive through the ravine of the Near Rhine River will linger in your memory! The two villages Laax and Trin are located at the edge of an impressive ravine with the sonorous Romance name Ruinaulta. After the last glacial epoch, more than 10,000 years ago, a huge landslide of rocks from Films thundered downhill and covered the whole of today's wooded area south of the road from Trin to Laax with a layer of scree as massive as several hundred meters at some places. Because of this landslide the Rhine River near Ilanz was damed to a large lake. The outflow gradually cleared its way through the scree and built up that what does fascinate us most these days: 18 kilometers of wild river, 300 meters high, white limestone walls and a rugged (orienteering) forest with building-sized boulders and magical forest lakes without visible in- and outflows. One of these lakes, the Lake Cresta, invites to take a swim in close location to the competition center.
